We will be staying in a private home on the beach in Playa Grande.
Location
Daily surf lessons will include the use of equipment, which will also be at your disposal throughout the week if you want to practice on your own as well. During lessons an instructor will be in the water with you to help you catch waves, provide feedback, and keep you safe ! Student to teacher ratios are kept at a maximum of 3 to 1 to ensure safety and individual attention :)
There will also be photos and video taken during lessons, which we will review in the evening. I consider this a very valuable part of learning to surf/improving your surfing as you will be able to see what your doing in relation to how you feel on the wave, helping to reinforce the fundamentals and techniques learned. We will also have several surf workshops in which we cover the basics of surfing, surfboards, types of waves, & safety.
Surf instruction is for all levels ! For beginners we will start off on a soft-top and then progress you to another board. If you’ve surfed already we are happy to find a board that is similar to what you ride at home. You are also more than welcome to bring your own board if you feel it will be best for you!
We will surf right out front of the house in Grande most days, but will also make some day trips to other beaches so that you can surf in other locations with different types of waves as well!
Daily Surf Lessons
All meals (except 2-3 that will be eaten on the road) will be provided and will be eaten on location in Playa Grande. We have a personal cook who will provide local cuisine, 3 meals/day. We’ll also do a store run together so that you have the option to grab snacks or treats to keep on hand.

We'll hit the mat to stretch out and strengthen those muscles for surfing.
Daily Yoga Classes
An afternoon to rest your body from all the activity and enjoy the ocean from a different vantage point :)
We will get on the boat at 1pm and set sail to the north for a bit, after which we will anchor and you can jump off, swim to the beach, snorkel… Includes light food, ALL beverages including alcohol, snorkel gear. We watch sunset from the boat on the way back, and will be back onshore shortly after at about 6:15pm.
Sunset Sailing
We will head out early this day to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Activities include horseback riding, zip-lining, thermal pools and mud bath. All activities are included, but you may opt out of one or some if you like. Buffet lunch with local dishes is also included and will be eaten on-site.
Full-Day Adventure
** PLEASE note that airport transportation is to/from Liberia Airport (LIR) which is about an hour away from our location.
If you are flying into San Jose Airport (SJO) we can help you arrange for a shuttle, which will be an additional cost of $55 each way.
If you plan to be in Costa Rica before or after the retreat, we are happy to help you find transportation as well :)
